"Hey! You gonna reconsider my deal?" Wilder yelled from the side. "You can barely hold on now, but when more werewolves pour in, you'll crumble! Especially Wolfe the Adamantine Wolf—you don't stand a chance against him!"
"Shut up!" Shana was already frazzled, and his constant nagging only made it worse. She snapped, "A witch's skills are never passed on! Get that out of your head!"
Wilder sighed. "In Golden Harbor's Technique Market, warriors sell their martial arts and mages sell their spells. Why are witches so stubborn about this? You're being ridiculous!"
You're the ridiculous one, you jerk! Your sallow face looks like you're already half-dead! Do you even respect witches, trying to trade our skills like goods? Shana was about to retort, but a thought struck her: Wait, he said many mages sell their skills? I know all kinds of magic!
Just then, more footsteps echoed through the cave—another wave of werewolves was approaching! Shana made up her mind and shouted at Wilder: "Hey! I know other mages' skills too! Wanna consider those?"
Sometimes, to save lives, magic can be traded! This isn't disrespecting mages—it's called adapting to the situation!
"Sure thing." Wilder chuckled. "But only if it's a spell missing from my black market technique list. If I already have it, I won't buy it."
What a greedy bastard! Shana said, "Besides witchcraft, I know skills from Dreamweavers, Gravekeepers, Demon Hunters, and Silence Elders. Which one do you want?"
Wilder's eyes lit up. "Do you know the Dreamweaver's Soul Unbinding Curse?"
"I do! I know both the Soul Binding and Soul Unbinding Curses!" Shana thought to herself: I'm not great at using them, but I know them well enough.
"Great! I'll pay fifty thousand Golden Glow Coins for the Soul Unbinding Curse!"
Shana was stunned. She never thought Dreamweaver skills could fetch such a high price. Is this a joke? Dreamweavers get the same price as witches? Even though Shana knew multiple magic skills, she'd always considered other magic professions inferior to witches. The offer made her feel a little indignant. Normally, she'd argue with him, but three more werewolves burst out from behind the waterfall, lunging at Feto, who was already in battle. Oh no! Feto won't hold out much longer!
She didn't have time to bicker. "Deal! Deal! Hurry up and help us!"
"But you have to teach me the curse first." Wilder said calmly, unhurried.
You slow bastard! "Help us escape first, and I'll teach you right away! I—Shana, Versatile Genius Magical Maiden and Captain of the Mandala Palace Auxiliary Witch Team for the Frost Great Wall—swear on my face!" She watched Feto fight five werewolves, her heart racing. "Is that enough? If the guard gets killed, you'll get nothing!"
"Your promise isn't exactly worth much…" Wilder sighed. "Fine, I'll take the loss. Deal." He rummaged through his Magic Satchel at his waist.
Hurry up! Shana urged, "Hurry and do something! What are you waiting for?"
"Easy, easy." Wilder chuckled. He pulled out a brown cloth from his waist, flicked his right hand, and the cloth unfolded, turning into a flying carpet hovering over the pool.
Whoa! What is that? Shana's eyes widened as she watched Wilder jump onto the carpet, which stayed floating in the air. Shana thought she knew most of the magic on the continent, but she'd never seen anything like this.
Wilder waved at the stunned witch. "Hey! You were yelling at me to act! I'm acting now—get up here! What are you waiting for?"
"Ah? Uh… Oh!" Shana finally snapped out of it. She noticed a crack in the rock above the waterfall, with a sliver of sunlight filtering through. I thought he'd help us fight, but he's helping us escape… Well… As long as we get out alive, it doesn't matter.
Shana turned to Feto and shouted, "Feto! Jump onto the carpet!"
Feto was fighting five werewolves, his shield defense on the verge of breaking. He just managed to reply when a werewolf's blade sliced his arm, blood soaking his clothes instantly.
"Feto!" Shana stomped her foot in panic, almost throwing an antidote instead of poison.
"Don't worry! I'll keep him alive!" Wilder laughed, throwing a glowing spherical object at the werewolves. "Move!"
Feto heard the shout and jumped sideways just in time to avoid the glowing ball.
Boom!
A deafening explosion shook the cave, filling it with white smoke and a pungent, acrid smell. Two werewolves were engulfed in flames and fell to the ground.
The Bubble Puffer is that powerful? Shana stared, dumbfounded.
"Go!"
Feto rushed over, grabbed the stunned witch, and jumped onto the carpet.
"Hold on tight, customers! Mimamimalo!" Wilder chanted a weird incantation, and the carpet shot upward, following the waterfall's path.
We're flying! Shana gripped the edge of the carpet, feeling the wind roar past her ears. She looked down and saw the three remaining werewolves below, waving their blades and howling furiously at them. Watching their helpless rage filled Shana with satisfaction.
"Goodbye! We're going home!" Shana waved at the werewolves.
Just as she was feeling triumphant, she heard a roar of water. A shadow burst out from behind the waterfall, leaping toward the carpet. A flash of cold steel was inches from her face.
"Oh no!" Shana cried out.
"Relax, relax! Heh heh heh!" Wilder laughed.
The carpet darted away like a phantom, narrowly avoiding the fatal strike. As it rose to the cave opening above the waterfall, Shana saw the enemy clearly. A towering werewolf stood on a boulder by the pool, staring up at them. Its eyes were fierce, and two prominent scars crisscrossed its face.
Shana remembered. This was Wolfe the Adamantine Wolf, the mightiest warrior of the wolf clan! This beast killed Sean! The tragic sight of Sean's broken sword pierced by its claws flashed through her mind, making her heart ache.
"Someday, I'll kill you!" Shana screamed.
Wolfe locked eyes with Shana. In its gaze was a mix of defiance and contempt.
